  • Day 1: Arrival in Paro

    Fly into Paro by Druk Air, with breathtaking views of the snowcapped Himalayan peaks as you descend into the Paro valley. Upon arrival, visit the National Museum at Ta Dzong, which houses a fascinating collection of art, relics, and religious thangkha paintings. Explore the historic Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) and enjoy a stroll around Paro town. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.

  • Day 2: Paro to Punakha/Wangdue

    After breakfast, travel to Punakha via Chunzom and Dochula Pass. Visit Tachog Lhakhang and enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges from Dochula Pass. Explore the historic Punakha Dzong and take a short hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Lhakhang, located on a hilltop overlooking the valley. Overnight at a hotel in Punakha/Wangdue.

  • Day 3: Punakha to Bumthang

    Journey through central Bhutan to Bumthang, passing through dense forests, meadows, and yak herder settlements. En route, visit Chendebji Chorten and the Yathra weaving center at Zugney. In Bumthang, explore the local town and interact with locals. Overnight at a hotel in Bumthang.

  • Day 4: Bumthang Siteseeing

    Discover Bumthang’s rich cultural heritage with visits to Jambay Lhakhang, Kujey Lhakhang, and Jakar Dzong. After lunch, visit the Dorjibi weaving center to learn about traditional Bhutanese weaving. Later in the afternoon, drive to Trongsa, the ancestral home of the royal family. Overnight at a hotel in Trongsa.

  • Day 5: Trongsa to Thimphu

    After breakfast, visit the National Museum at Ta Dzong in Trongsa and the impressive Trongsa Dzong. Then drive to Thimphu, stopping for lunch en route. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.

  • Day 6: Thimphu Siteseeting

    Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s cultural landmarks, including the National Textile Museum, Folk Heritage Museum, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, School of Traditional Painting of Arts and Crafts, Centenary Farmers’ Market, Tashichhoe Dzong, Takin Preserve, and Kuenselphodrang (Buddha Point). Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.

  • Day 7: Thimphu to Paro and Hike to Taktsang Monastery

    After breakfast, drive to Paro and hike to Taktsang Monastery, a sacred site perched on the side of a cliff. Enjoy a spectacular view from the viewpoint and visit the monastery itself, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. On the way back, visit Kichu Temple, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.

      The drive to Bumthang is long but scenic, passing through dense forests, meadows, and villages. Expect beautiful landscapes and opportunities for photography.

      The hike is moderately challenging, but the views are well worth the effort. Allow about 3-4 hours round-trip.
