  • Day 2: Thimphu-Paro

After breakfast, we’ll drive to Paro, a journey of about an hour. From there, we’ll embark on a hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as the ‘Tiger’s Nest.’ The hike to the viewpoint takes approximately 1.5 hours, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the monastery perched on the cliffside. After a short break at the View Point Cafeteria, we’ll continue the hike to the monastery, which takes about another hour.

Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew to this site on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated in a cave here for three months. The main monastery was built in 1692 and, though damaged by fire in 1998, has been fully restored. After exploring the monastery, we’ll descend back to the road, stopping for lunch at the viewpoint cafeteria before completing the hike.

On the way back to your hotel, we’ll visit the Kichu Temple, one of the 108 temples built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. According to legend, these temples were built to subdue a giant demon lying across Tibet and the Himalayas, hindering the spread of Buddhism.

In the evening, relax and enjoy your stay at a hotel in Paro.

  • Day 3: Departure from Paro

In the morning, your tour guide will escort you to the airport for your departure, bidding you farewell as you continue on to your next destination.
